Celebrity sales help Thomas Cook with adverts!
Thomas Cook has found a way to make money out of celebrities. By using them in the same way as every other business on the planet would, by turning them into Advert monkeys. However Thomas Cook has been a little different in the way they have done this. This tour operator has been largely dedicated to its UK customers, so used a celebrity loved by all in the UK. If someone were to ask anyone who Jamie Redknapp was they would probably know straight away. Got to Dance is a show that is watched by many, and Louise is a judge on this. Both of these people are loved by the British public!
What is it in this advert that makes it oh so special. These two celebrities are easy for the public to relate too. The Basic principles of the advert are that they arrive at their holiday and then relax on the beach. This advert intends to give people the impression they can live like a celebrity as well. With the five million pounds they got from this advert do you think that the Redknapp’s would be staying in the cheaper resorts they advertise.
Since they have been in the Nintendo Wii adverts they are loved by the whole public. I am happy for them, I think they have done well. Thomas Cook is the longest running Tour Operator in the UK, so they are a very respected and trusted Tour Operator. This business has done very well to bond so well with the Redknapp’s.
Surely we should look at this from all angles though. Now really do we expect to see celebrities in the same buildings as us more common people, no we don’t. In fact are Louise and Jamie not lying to us about where they are staying? Somehow I do not think that this holiday is going to be all that great.
Sharm El Sheikh Holidays are a favourite of the Celebrity demographic, showered in luxury hotels, however saying that Egypt holidays have been popular with the entire country. So is Thomas Cook wrong to be employing role models in their adverts, of course not, I have been on Hurghada holidays, what fun it was, no celebrities spotted though!
