The flashy state of New York has a lot of sights to offer any traveler. The big apple has it all from historic landmarks, best clubs and pubs, great shopping options, posh hotels, and educational places to visit. The attractions in New York are a lot to cover within a day. In fact, a weekend would not even suffice for a taste of the real NYC life and environment.

Known for very long traffic jams, high rise apartments/housing, and being one of the cities with the most vehicles and not to mention foot traffic, the ever popular double-decker bus tours are a must-try. The top attractions in New York that these bus tours cover include the world famous Empire State Building Observatory, American Museum of Natural History & Rose Center, Guggenheim Museum, The Museum of Modern Art (popularly called the MoMA), the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and The Cloisters. Other side trips also include a visit to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

A crowd drawer all year round, for convenience to local and foreign tourists alike, guide booklets and brochures are widely available. These publications contain attraction information, transportation directions, and best times to visit, a map, and other insider tips for the best way to enjoy the big apple.

Of the many museums that are part of the list of the attractions in New York, one that stands out is the Museum of Modern Art or MoMA. The museum’s great and distinctive galleries include Claude Monet’s Reflections of Clouds on the Water-Lily Pond and Pablo Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.

The MoMa houses an active schedule of exhibitions. Located in midtown Manhattan, it is steps from the Broadway theater district and many shopping and dining options. Additional facilities of the venue also include bookstores and elegant restaurants and cafes.

Prices for admission are pegged regularly at $20 per person. With this general museum entry pass, MoMA audio tours are for free. These audio tours feature commentaries by curators, artists, and critics. During Fridays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., MoMA is free to the public.

You may plan your trip to the MoMA that opens Wednesday through Mondays 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Fridays until 8 p.m. The museum however isn’t open 365 days a year. It is closed on Tuesdays, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Getting to the MoMA can be done via subway, bus, or taxi. But to avoid the rush of using public transportation, it is recommended that you signup with a tour operator so you may be able to tour through the attractions in New York conveniently. Advance tickets are also available for tourists who would want to escape form the hassle of long lines for each attraction.

Among the top attractions in New York we have the Museum of Modern Art, or the MoMA. This place is unparalleled as far as attractions go. Pay it a visitnext time your in NYC.

Are you getting excited for that big trip to the Big Apple, but are a little overwhelmed by all the possibilities this huge, historical city has to offer? New York is one of the most popular destinations in the world, and there are some attractions you just can’t afford to miss.

First stop in attractions New York would be the Statue of Liberty, which could be considered one of the city’s most popular. Your vacation in the Big Apple will not be complete without paying a visit to this gigantic structure. Situated in the Hudson River at the harbor of New York, it serves as the welcoming symbol for each of the city’s arriving visitors. It has always stood as a symbol of independence, freedom and other important values.

Second outstanding attractions New York is the Empire State Building. It has been the location of many famous Hollywood films and has made a mark in the memory of every audience. This iconic skyscraper was opened on May 1, 1931 and is still a definite must-see for any visitor. About 20,000 people walk in and out of the building each passing day.

Possibly the most famous district in New York, though, is Times Square. This is one of the attractions New York has maintained for over 100 years. At first it was called Longacre Square but the name was changed when the New York Times Company made a home there in 1904. This has also been the site of the famous New Year’s Eve party since 1907.

If sports are more your thing, then there is an arena you won’t want to miss. Madison Square Garden is one of the most popular sports arenas in the country and can accommodate around 20,000 guests. It sits above Pennsylvania Station for easy access and is home to both the New York Knicks and the New York Rangers.

And don’t forget the historical and cultural aspects of the city. Take a look at the American Museum of Natural History and take in some of the artifacts and history that has been collected there. This museum houses one of the largest collections of historical items in the country and is a wonderful attraction for adults and children alike.

If you’re just looking for a nice afternoon with the family in a beautiful setting, you may want to check out Central Park. Often called the garden of Manhattan, it offers 843 acres of space for running, walking, or just playing around. Some estimates say the park sees more than 25 million visitors a year, which makes it one of the most popular parks in the country.

One final attraction worth mentioning is the famous Wall Street. Located between East River and Broadway, this is the home of the New York Stock Exchange. So much of the financial world centers around this place, and you can see the place and tell everyone you have been there.

Death Valley is not your typical American National Park. It’s a region of extremes… extreme temperatures… extreme geology… extreme history… extreme scenery. Death Valley National Park provides a stark contrast to many of Americas other national parks and caters to those who are looking for an escape from the ordinary, and a refuge from cold in winter.

Death Valley is most popular in autumn and winter months when the rest of the country is shivering under the icy chill of winter and a blanket of snow. Death Valley beckons ‘snow-birds’ from across the upper latitudes of north America with her dry desert climate and her persuasively mild temperatures.

Death Valley covers more than 3 million acres, roughly 1 1/2 times the size of Delaware. It is also an area of extreme, albeit unusual scenic beauty and adventure.

Visitors flock to Death Valley throughout the year, but especially in the winter months, and recreational sports such as hiking, mountain biking and riding horseback are all popular activities inside the park.

Death Valley provides habitat to more than 56 kinds of mammal, 36 variations of reptile, several sorts of amphibians and fish species, and more than 400 classifications of birds have been spotted within the park.

Some of the variations of mammals include bighorn sheep, foxes, coyotes, squirrels, rodents, jackrabbits, bats and more. There can also be found a wide variety of reptiles within the borders of Death Valley such as the Zebra-tailed lizard, a fast running, insectivorous inhabitant of the desert flats, washes and plains. Or the desert horned lizard a moderately sized lizard with pointed scales that protrude from it’s head and body in the shape of horns. Only the ‘horns’ on it’s head are rigid, the rest of the horn-like scales are soft and feel more like normal reptile skin. One interesting thing about the horned lizard is it’s ability to shoot a stream of blood from the corner of it’s eyes when it is threatened by a predator. This creates a distraction and allows the lizard an opportunity to escape.

Death Valley is also known for it’s many interesting ghost towns. These colorful relics from Death Valley’s past were mostly mining towns that sprung up around the turn of the twenty-first century when gold, silver and copper ore was found in the area. One of the most interesting of these ghost towns is the town of Panamint City. This little town was short lived, but made up for it’s short life through its audacious reputation. Panamint City was founded by two outlaws who were hiding-out from the law. During their hiatus in the Panamint Mountains, these two lucky outlaws discovered silver in Surprise Canyon and subsequently decided to give up their life of crime for a more domestic lifestyle. During it’s time, Panamint City was considered one of the toughest, rawest, most hard-boiled little hell-hole that ever passed for a civilized town. However the fast life of Panamint City led to an early demise, as the city went from the height of it’s boom in 1874 to utter destruction from a flash flood just two years later in 1876.

More information can be found about Death Valley National Park and it’s many tourist attractions, lodging options and activities by visiting NationalParkReservations.com/deathvalley.htm There you will find a complete listing of lodging options both inside the park as well as near the parks perimeter. You can also learn more about Death Valley’s many ghost towns and other tourist attractions at the National Park Reservations site.

Whilst the rest of Europe is still experiencing cooler spring weather the Canary Islands are preparing themselves for the busiest holiday season of the year. As these seven specks of Spain that lie just off the coast of Africa are Europe´s only genuine Winter sun destination.

Lanzarote is the eastern most link in the Canary Island chain and has long been a popular destination with British and Irish tourists. And despite failing airlines, the falling pound and the current bleak economic outlook the Island of Fire is still a hot ticket. As holidaymaker numbers to the island have just kept on rising.

UK tourist continue to flock to the island and as a result demand for Lanzarote villas and apartments has remained relatively stable. Whilst property prices have also started to fall on the island it is less noticeable than in other european destinations.

This is most likely because to the fact that Lanzarote has much more to offer tourists than just sunshine alone though. As the island boasts a unique volcanic scenery, picturesque beaches, a host of natural attractions and some of the most unusual tourist sites found anywhere in the world. All of which is largely thanks to an island born artist and architect called Cesar Manrique.

understandable of the damage that this could cause to his birthplace Manrique returned home to ensure that his beloved Lanzarote was not buried beneath a sea of five star concrete.

As a result of his efforts Lanzarote has largely been spared the type of over development now commonly found in other Spanish sun spots and other Canary Islands resorts. High rise buildings are banned, advertising hoardings are outlawed and all of the islands three main tourist resorts are well contained.

Manrique´s other main initiative was to create a unique set of tourist attractions on the island that essentially fused art with nature.

In tandem with close collaborators such as Jesus Soto he lit an alternative path for island development with the creation of sites such as the Jameos del Agua, which embodied his desire to fuse art with nature.

There’s much to see in London, heres a select list.

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

The london eye- A modern day version of Vienna’s Prater ferris wheel which stands opposite parliament and dominates the river skyline. Jump in a cab and get a breath-taking view of the city. Check the weather forecasts, as the gloomy days can sometimes spoil the landscape view your given when your up there, and when its hot the temperature in the capsule can be unbearable. Closed to repair work during the first few months of the year.

Big Ben -What could be the UK’s most famous landmark. Unfortunately not open for the public to go and have a look, but if your near the house of parliament it may be worth getting close for a view. There are cells within the tower clock which are reserved for members of parliament, which havent been used since 1880 -given the Britains financial state, maybe we should look at bringing them back…..

Buckingham palace- the official residence of Her majesty queen Elizabeth II, it became the official royal palace when Queen Victoria ascended to the throne. The palace is actually owned by the nation and not the royal family, so some of the rooms can be viewed by the public daily during the summer months. There is the palace’s state rooms which can be viewed in August and September and the changing of the guard to view in the forecourt of the palace.

Serving as a place of execution, armory, the royal mint and since 1303, the home of the crown jewels. Annoying the guards or the ravens insnt advised, as it still works pretty well as a prison.

That's right, we're taking a trip into the city this Friday. No plans and no kiddies for the day. So what's fun to see there? Yeah, we're a couple of hicks from Pennsylvania but we've been to the city a few times in the past. What's fun to do there?

YOu can go to "Tkts on Broadway" and try to purchase cheap tickets to a broadway show (dont go to the theatres they charge more)….you can probably get something decent for $20/$25….and go to an afternoon show. Also they sell off broadway which are just as good.
If you don't want to do that…….there are shops down at the Southstreet Seaport and a few nice restaurants….you can sit outside if the weather is decent…relax and have a couple of cocktails and a bite to eat. Also, at the Southstreet Seaport they offer ferrie rides and afternoon sailboats rides that last about 2 hours……it tours up to the statue of liberty and around the island…don't know the price on that one.
Or……..go to Central Park……they have the zoo there….also by Central Park is the Metropolitan Museum (on the east side) and on Central Park West up by 82nd st is Museum of Natural History which is only a few blocks to the Guggenheim.
Well….that's some things that are interesting……..
Also on 57th Street are some of the touristy restaurants and lots of stores….you can shop all day!
Have fun!
